Head Coach
Jeff Thompson has been involved with Terre Haute swimming since his days as a swimmer in the late 80's. Jeff spent his competitive years of swimming with the Terre Haute Aquatic Club (THAC), then at Terre Haute South and he finished up his years at the University of Illinois were he earned 3 varsity letters. Jeff now serves as the head coach, and he works with the Bronze and the Senior groups. Jeff is also the Terre Haute South High School men's and women's head coach. Jeff is a very proactive instructor and stroke technician and brings with him twenty plus years of swimming and coaching experience. Jeff has coached numerous High School Sectional Champions, State Qualifiers, State Finalists, as well as many Age-Group Championship Finalists. He has had several All-American Consideration swimmers and numerous Academic All-Americans. In 2001, he was named the Bloomington Sectional Coach of the Year. Jeff is a Mathematics teacher at Honey Creek Middle School and lives here in Terre Haute with his wife Melissa, their two girls, Emily and Molly and their son Andrew. 
Head Age Group Coach/ Assistant Senior Coach
John Newhouse has been a member of the staff since 1999, and is the Head Age-Group Coach As Head Age-Group Coach, John is responsible for overseeing the programs where the future stars of the Terre haute Torpedoes Swim Club are produced. In addition to his coaching duties, John also handles all meet entries and is the team representative to Indiana Swimming on all Technical Issues and Officiating concerns. John has been a member of the Indiana Swimming Zone team coaching staff, 5 times as an assistant and most recently the Head coach in 2007. He was also the Head Coach for Team Indiana at the 2005 Quad Meet. John has also coached numerous State Champion swimmers, Junior National qualifiers and national Top 16 ranked Age-Group swimmers. Currently John also serves as the Co- Head Coach for the Terre Haute North H.S. Teams. Before coming to the Torpedoes, John coached the High School and Age-Group program in Lawrenceburg, IN. As a swimmer John competed as a distance swimmer for the University of Indianapolis and began his swimming carreer in high school at East Central.
Coaches
David Breiding has been a member of the staff since 2005 and is currently a graduate student at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, studying biomedical engineering. David is currently working on his Masters Thesis at Rose. David works with the future all practice groups as the main assistant for the age group program. He is originally from Kent (Seattle), Washington and has been involved with competitive swimming for 18 years. He currently holds, or is part, of 6 different school records at Rose-Hulman, with a crowning achievement of qualifying for the NCAA national championships.
Randy Jensen has been a part of Terre Haute swimming for 33 years. Randy serves as a Senior assistant and is returning to the H.S. coaching scene this year after a 11 year absence as the Co-Head coach of the Terre Haute North H.S. Teams. Randy brings 24 Years of coaching experiance to the Torpedoes. Previously Randy has coached the H.S. teams at Hamilton Southeastern (Boys 1983-85) and Terre Haute North (Boys 1985-96, Girls 1985-95). He also began the swimming program at Rose-Hulman where he coached from 1990-2000. Randy has coached numerous high school and collegiate All-Americans and a USA swimming National Qualifier. Randy graduated from Terre Haute North H.S. in 1978, completed his undergraduate work in Phisical Education at Ball State in1982, and his Masters Degree at Indiana state in 1987. Randy is currently the P.E. Department chair at Terre Haute North H.S., where he teaches P.E. and Swimming. Randy Currently resides in Terre Haute with his wife Diane and their two children Jonathan and Hilary.
Mindy Cundiff
Terry Stepp begins his second year with the Torpedoes as the lead coach for the Orange and Blue groups. Terry brings 49 years of Age Group coaching experiance to the torpedoes. Terry is also the coach of the summer team in Marshall, IL , Marshall Aquatic Club. He has also coached at the Terre Haute Elks Club, and the Paris YMCA in Illinois. Terry's coaching recoard at MAC includes 10 undeafeated seasons, 14 conference championships and 27 invitational championships. Over 60 of Terry's former MAC swimmers have gone into coaching, including Jeff Thompson, THT and THS Head Coach and Donald J. Brush, III , current Sprint coach at Indiana University and former THT head coach.
Matthew Eller has been a memeber of the Torpedoes since his Age Group swimming days. Matt will be assisting with the Blue and orange groups this season and brings a wealth of knowledge and experiance with him. Matt is a 2007 draduate of South H.S. and is attending Indiana State.
